Check out the must have kitchen gadgets you should have to make your kitchen stress free.
Every self-respecting kitchen has its own gadgets which are usually belonging to two distinct categories.
The Tried, Tested & Approved usually have pride of place somewhere in the kitchen where the cook of the house will have not simply placed them but specifically carved out a place for them amidst the miscellany of other items lining the shelves and cupboards. These are generally speaking the type of gadgets nobody else tampers with, and which reign supreme in the ‘I Love You’ list of the cook in question.
The Tried/Untried, Tested & Snobbed usually rot away in some dark corner or get shifted around so many times before probably ending up at a mother-in-law’s kitchen, never to be heard of again. Most definitely these will never have achieved a stamp of approval and are considered, at least by one specific cook (the cook in question) as being an utter waste of time and money.
But there do exist some kitchen gadgets which have been smiled upon and appreciated by oh so many cooks, that they truly deserve to be in our top 4 below:
Never eat a soggy salad again! This plastic contraption seems the most unlikely candidate for this list, yet, only after having discovered and used it, does one realise how indispensable it can be. I mean, think of salad preparation washing those lettuce leaves and then shaking them endlessly over the kitchen sink to avoid them sagging in their bowl. Imagine a salad for a grand table of eight or more! What a lot of shaking that would involve. The spinner is excellent for spinning leaves and ridding them of excess water droplets and you will be amazed at just how much water falls off those tiny chopped up leaves. It allows you to prepare a salad that will not be soggy not partially drenched. Salad leaves remain crisp and sprightly on the plate. Apart from salad leaves, it is excellent to dry out washed fresh herbs ahead of freezing them and washing out any other kind of leaves you might want to use in your dishes. The lazy ones can get an electric spinner.
There are many fruit gadgets which make lunch packing fun and simple to do, especially if you have small kids who have been brought around to the idea of eating fruit for good health. One lovely gadget to try out is the apple divider. It does not just core your apple, but with a neat push, it will get your apple firmly cut up into evenly sized segments.
A newer gadget or rather device that most of us will want to have at all costs, is the silicone slip-on bowl spout. This fits snugly around your pot or bowl, allowing you to pour out liquids as well as dry ingredients without spilling and messing up things. Why didn’t they think of it before?
And with a final dash, we must always pay our respects to good old citrus which is always so useful around the kitchen. But cutting up lemons or lime, and squeezing out the juices, even with a citrus juicer does create a mess and requires some level of strength, doesn’t it? So what about getting a citrus sprayer. This is literally a spraying gadget which you just slide inside the lime or lemon and use as a normal spray. Neat, clean, effective.
How about that for four useful, simply fantastic and even affordable kitchen gadgets you must try out. Be warned, however – you will want them with you every time you’re cooking and that’s a fact.
