Why Choose REMAX Malta? We Asked the People Who Built It

Your Journey Begins with RE/MAX Malta

Every career has a starting point. At some moment, someone weighs up their options, asks the right questions, and decides where they want to build their future. For many of today’s most successful real estate professionals, that moment led them to REMAX.

We wanted to know why. So we sat down with our franchise co-owners and our Chairman and asked them the questions anyone considering a career in real estate would want answered. We did not want a brochure or a pitch. We wanted the real story, from the people who have lived it.

This is the story behind our new video series, and a glimpse into what they told us.

Why REMAX Over Any Other Brand

It is a fair question. There is no shortage of real estate agencies to choose from, in Malta or anywhere else. So why REMAX?

Across every conversation we had, one theme came up again and again: the strength of the brand itself. The REMAX balloon is present in over 110 countries. That reach carries trust before a single word is exchanged. The moment a client sees it on a listing, a board or a business card, it means something.

Jenny put it simply when we asked her why she joined. It is an international brand that clients widely recognise, she told us. Furthermore, they recognise it not just for the name, but for the trust, credibility and high-quality service that come with it.

A brand alone does not build a career, though. Our co-owners also spoke about the culture behind it. They described a network of independent professionals who genuinely support one another rather than compete in isolation.

Can You Learn a Sales Mindset, or Are You Born With It

This question came up in almost every interview. James Busuttil gave one of the most direct answers. One needs a sales mindset to succeed, he told us. Specifically, an agent needs drive, grit and a willingness to go the extra mile. Clients arrive with high expectations, and rightly so. They demand high-quality service, and the agent’s fee must justify that.

That said, James was clear that the mindset itself does not have to arrive fully formed. If someone already knows how to sell anything, he explained, REMAX Malta can train them to sell property. What matters more is the ability to listen and a genuine openness to learning. Negotiation, contracts and market knowledge can all be taught. Drive, however, has to come from within.

This is exactly why training sits at the centre of how REMAX Malta brings new agents into the network.

Growing Professionally and Personally

For many of the people we interviewed, REMAX has been less of a job and more of a long-term development path. People who started as agents have gone on to lead offices and build teams. In several cases, they have become franchise owners themselves.

Kurt Cuschieri felt this firsthand. Because the network is global, he told us, the training on offer has been immense. Moreover, it gave him the chance to travel abroad and see a broader market. That exposure fed directly into his professional growth.

On the personal side, Kurt pointed to the support around him. With that support in place, he became more disciplined. He also grew far more comfortable handling client relationships and the day-to-day demands of the work.

What stood out across these conversations was how often personal growth came up alongside professional growth. People built confidence, communication skills and time management here. They also developed resilience under pressure, and these are qualities that extend well beyond real estate itself.

Why Real Estate, and Why Now

For anyone considering their next career move, real estate offers something rare. It combines genuinely uncapped earning potential with the independence of running your own business. Importantly, you still have a network behind you.

Lara chose REMAX for much the same reasons. It is an international brand, she told us, with a title that carries real value. In addition, it offers exposure that reaches well beyond Malta. She was equally clear, though, that the role demands hard work. Ultimately, she said, hard work pays off.

Several of our co-owners came from completely different industries. For example, they came from hospitality, finance and retail before finding their place in real estate. They did not necessarily bring a background in property. Instead, what they shared was a willingness to work hard, learn fast and stay close to their clients.

Teamwork in a Performance-Based Industry

Real estate can look like an individual sport from the outside. Your results are your own. Your commission is your own. Your clients are your own. However, almost everyone we spoke to pushed back on the idea that success here is a solo pursuit.

Teamwork shows up in the small moments instead. For instance, it appears as a second opinion on a tricky negotiation, a colleague covering a viewing, and shared market insights that help everyone close more deals. The independence is real, but so is the support system behind it.

Carmen put it more directly still: teamwork is fundamental to success. In her view, that success rests on a few clear fundamentals. These are trust, clearly defined goals, genuine collaboration and full support from the people around you.

The Support New Agents Receive

One of the most common questions we hear from people considering a move into real estate is simple: What do I actually get when I join?

The answer, consistently, was structure. A clear induction process. Training through the REMAX Academy. Shadowing opportunities with experienced agents. Access to Onyx, our internal platform for managing listings, clients and performance. And a manager who acts as a mentor, not just a supervisor.

Kurt Psaila Montefort broke it down further. A new agent needs training, he told us, but also attention and time. Moreover, the agent needs a mindset shift. They have to stay focused on where they are now and where they are working to get to.

No one we interviewed felt left to figure it out on their own.

Being a People Person in Real Estate

Property is the product, but people are the business. Every person we interviewed agreed on one thing. The ability to genuinely connect with people, to listen, and to understand what someone actually needs is one of the most important qualities an agent can have.

As Manuel put it, the industry is about meeting people, which means dealing with them every single day. Therefore, an agent needs to be approachable, trustworthy, and genuinely able to listen to a client’s needs.

It is not about being the loudest person in the room. It is about being someone clients trust enough to guide them through one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

Opportunities for Someone Starting Fresh

For those with no background in property at all, the message from our network was clear: that is not a barrier here.

Isaac was emphatic on this point. The opportunities are vast, he told us. Furthermore, this industry offers something others simply do not: the more work you put in, the more opportunities come your way. With REMAX behind you, he added, you also get full support along the way.

RE/MAX Malta welcomes people from all kinds of backgrounds. The consistent advice was to focus on mindset over experience. The systems, training and support exist precisely to give someone with no real estate history everything they need to build a genuine career.

First Impressions of REMAX

We asked our co-owners what their first impression was when they joined. Almost universally, they pointed to scale and structure: the sense of joining something bigger than a single office. A global brand backed them, yet they still found a genuinely local, hands-on culture.

Andre said it best: “What you see is what you get.” For him, the brand’s professionalism was obvious from day one. That same brand awareness has since helped him considerably when closing deals. He also pointed to the training on offer as a defining part of that first impression.

What They Look for When Recruiting

When our co-owners recruit new agents, they focus less on CVs and more on character. Drive, integrity, a willingness to learn and genuine resilience come up far more often than any specific qualification.

Mark summed it up well. He looks for someone who is hungry, he told us. That person needs to be ready to commit to a life-changing career and motivated to keep learning. From there, REMAX Malta provides the ongoing training. The goal, as he put it, is simply to see people succeed.

A Day in the Life

There is no single answer to what a typical day looks like at REMAX Malta, and that is part of the appeal. Viewings, client calls, negotiations, paperwork, networking- no two days are quite the same. What ties it together is autonomy: agents build their own days around what moves their business forward.

As Julian explained, being self-employed means agents set their own schedule. At an office level, though, the week still starts with planning. First, agents research new listings to match each property with the right client. Then they prepare background research that genuinely enhances the client’s experience.

The Tools Behind the Brand

Clive spoke about the tools REMAX Malta puts directly into agents’ hands. Onyx handles listings, transactions and client management in one place. Marketing resources and personal branding support also help agents build a presence that extends far beyond a single listing.

Clive told us that REMAX has always been at the forefront of equipping agents to reach a wider audience. That includes marketing software, lead generation, ongoing training and one-to-one support.

James Mizzi put it directly: with plenty of agencies to choose from in Malta, what does REMAX actually put in your hands to help you succeed? International exposure is the obvious answer. Being part of a global network opens doors that a purely local agency cannot. However, the more interesting answer is internal. Monthly training is delivered at the regional level. Additionally, individual offices run their own photography and marketing training for agents. New agents also join a buddy system. As a result, they gain hands-on experience alongside someone more experienced from day one.

In an industry full of agencies, our network described this combination as one of the clearest differentiators.

Advice for Ambitious Entrepreneurs

The advice from across our network was remarkably consistent. Treat it like a business from day one. Show up, follow the systems and stay close to your clients. Give it time, because results follow effort, not the other way around.

Andrew’s advice was warm and direct in equal measure. It is never too late to start, he told us. When you do start, especially with REMAX, you have the largest database at your disposal. Furthermore, you already have the weight of an international brand in your corner.

Why Top Performers Succeed Here

When we asked Darren this, he broke it down into three things. First, top performers need a genuine support system. This shows up as overseas conferences, ongoing training and access to a large database of contacts and listings.

Second, the office environment matters. Top performers thrive when their office makes them feel appreciated, surrounded by like-minded people working towards the same standard.

Third, Darren was clear that agents must earn their commission. That means being knowledgeable and giving clients truthful information. Ultimately, a top agent becomes a genuine asset to the transaction, not simply a name on the contract.

The Impact of Networking

Finally, we asked about the role networking plays within REMAX. The answer was consistent across the board. The connections agents build within the network, between offices and between Malta and Gozo, translate directly into business. Referrals, shared knowledge, and collaboration are not side benefits. They are part of how the network actually works.

Kevin, our Chairman, brought this conversation to a close. REMAX, he told us, is an international brand that professionals recognise both locally and worldwide. Consequently, that recognition makes life easier in a very practical way, especially when an agent is walking into a listing presentation.

He also pointed to the cooperation that runs across the network. From the referral system between agents and offices to REMAX University, agents get what they need to maintain top-tier service and stay at the top of their game. Networking within REMAX, as he put it, does indeed open doors.

Guiding the Next Generation of Agents

Across all sixteen conversations, one thing struck us most: the genuine belief in what RE/MAX Malta offers. Not just as a brand, but as a place to build a real career and a real future.

That is what this video series is about. Sixteen honest conversations with people who have already lived this journey, for anyone wondering whether it might be theirs too.

The RE/MAX Takeaway

The people around you shape a real estate career just as much as the deals you close. Across every interview in this series, one thing was clear: REMAX Malta is built on people who genuinely want to see each other succeed.
